PÓLYÁN, SLOVAKIA. The 21st century faces challenges no less daunting than overpopulation and climate change. A family living on the outskirts of a small village in Pólyán, took up the fight against the latter years ago, using renewable energy to make their everyday life greener and keeping their carbon footprint at the lowest possible. The Tomojka family’s easily recognisable, English country-style family home is on the edge of the village of Pólyán, just a few kilometres from Királyhelmec. The constant traffic of the main road a few hundred metres away is no longer audible. The house is surrounded by fruit trees and a beautiful lawned courtyard. A real country atmosphere. The house and its surroundings are a place of peace and harmony, which is at least as peaceful as the one you will feel when you arrive. And the electric cars in the courtyard and the solar panels on the roof of the house show that the Tomojkas are also committed to renewable energy and the environment.
