A football fan’s ‘heart stopped’ when he came home to find his pup Leo had chewed up his promotion play-off tickets. Lifelong Coventry City fan Jim Lennon had bought two tickets for the Championship play-off semi-final match against Middlesborough and had planned to take his grandson Jacob, 14. But his eight-month-old cocker spaniel Leo had other ideas and tore the tickets to shreds after they were posted through Jim’s letterbox. Jim, who has been attending Sky Blues matches for 55 years, said: ‘I went pale, the blood just drained from me. I was panicking when I saw the mess in front of the door. My heart stopped.’ The grandfather, who had popped out to pick up some DIY bits, feared he and Jacob would miss out on the big match. Thankfully he managed to piece together the tickets, took them to the club’s office and got some new ones.
