MAGYARORSZÁG: The Hungarian Money Museum

The iconic building of the Postapalota (Postal Palace) on Széll Kálmán Square in Budapest is a real beauty. It has been housing the Hungarian Money Museum (Pénzmúzeum) dedicated to the history of money, banking, and finance for more than a year now. The museum is operated by the Hungarian National Bank (Magyar Nemzeti Bank), the central bank of Hungary, and it showcases the evolution of money and its role in society. The building The building of the Postal Palace was built in 1924 with Art Nouveau details and was erected according to the plans of Gyula Sándy. It had been empty for decades then the Hungarian National Bank bought it in 2016 and started extensive renovation work on it. The result is a stunningly beautiful building that is both traditional and extremely modern. The special, conspicuous tower of the building is like the bastion of a medieval castle.
