A double Oscar-winning actor, successful film director and producer, Jodie Foster has been acting since she was two years old. Foster became best known for roles in movies Taxi Driver, The Accused, and as FBI agent Clarice Starling in Silence of the Lambs. Background Alicia Christian Foster (later nicknamed Jodie) was born in Los Angeles, California, on November 19, 1962, to parents Evelyn Brandy Ella and Lucius Fisher Foster III. She was the youngest of four children. Her parents divorced and her mother raised the family with her partner in LA. Foster was a clever child and began reading by the age of 3.
