With the Netflix thriller movie Reptile out in September and famous for her role in one of the biggest cult comedies of the nineties, Silverstone has made many movies in lots of different genres. Here are a few must-see. The Crush (1993) Silverstone’s first movie saw her play a teenager with an obsession for an older man. She won the MTV Movie Award for Best Breakthrough Performance. The movie is a psychological thriller where 28-year-old writer, Nick Eliot moves into a guesthouse to find a more peaceful place to write and meets his landlord’s 14-year-old daughter, Adrian, who becomes obsessive and creepy and starts attacking Nick’s friends. Clueless (1995) The 1990s comedy classic and her most iconic and beloved role Silverstone stars as Cher Horowitz, alongside Paul Rudd. A hilarious coming-of-age drama focusing on Cher’s life as a rich and popular student at a Beverley Hills high school this was loosely based on the Jane Austen novel Emma, which can be seen in the similar storylines such as when Cher tries to match-make her ‘poorer’ school friend (Brittany Murphy).
