British Pop sensation The Spice Girls became the biggest girl group of all time in the 1990s, holding the top of the charts around the world. They managed an incredible nine number one singles in the UK, including big hits like Wannabe, Who Do You Think You Are, Spice Up Your Life, and Viva Forever. These feisty songs, the individuality of the five female members, their playful rule breaking attitude and shouting girl power at every opportunity was a breath of fresh air with the mainly boy bands of the time, and they became icons and role models for young people. The Spice Girls formed in 1993 when five young women responded to an ad in a magazine for a female pop group.
